Prof. TAN Tieniu
Vice Minister of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R.
Prof. Tan is currently the Vice Minister of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R. and was the former Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Prof. Tan is an expert in image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition. He received his BSc in electronic engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University, China in 1984, and later gained his MSc and PhD degrees in electronic engineering from Imperial College London, UK in 1986 and 1989 respectively. He holds more than 70 patents and has authored or edited 11 books. He has published more than 500 research papers in refereed international journals and conferences in the areas of image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition. His research interests include biometrics, image and video understanding, and information forensics and security.
